Checks will be made to ensure that all the vehicles have snow chains and chocks on board so that there are prepared for all weather conditions.
As part of Galleon driver training programme we ensure that all driver understand how snow chains work, when to use them and above all how to fit them correctly and safely.
Traveling through Europe by coach now demands a very high standard of operation and coach operators need to keep themselves updates on a regular basis. Each country may vary when setting their standard but we ensure that all our vehicles have the follows items on board:
All drive axle tyres are fitted with winterised tyres.
All tyres are changed when the thread reaches 5mm.
All vehicle carry Amber flashing beacons and triangles for safety should a vehicle become immobile.
Hi visibility vests readily available for all adults on board the vehicle.
A complete set of engine belts and an emergency mirror on board each vehicle.
A driver tool kit and a full bulb kit.
These are just some of the things that give us piece of mind when our coaches travel through Europe along with our competent experienced drivers.
Safety is paramount and a strict adherence to drivers hours regulations, ensuring our drivers receive ample rest and a company ban on any of our drivers working on the final day of their tour prior to the departure homeward bound will give everybody peace of mind.
I hope all our customers have a great ½ term holidays and our drivers stay safe. -
VDL synergy +
VDL Synergy
Economical, versatile, double-decker – these key words characterise the Synergy. Large groups travel on this coach and experience its reliability and optimum comfort. And no wonder, because this extremely flexible vehicle is based on years of experience in making double-deckers. In terms of fuel consumption, too, the Synergy shows only its best side - a real gain for the operator. Also this week we have taken delivery of our VDL synergy 86 seat double decker executive coach, like the i6 the VDL has USB chargers for every seat and seat back tables, W/c, A/c and also a ski box giving the flexibility for extra luggage space. Keeping with our London theme we have chosen the London eye for our livery giving it an all round classy and elegant look. The most exciting feature is the trial of a new innovation media system which will provide passengers with access to music, films and wifi on the go all from their smart phone!

Uk Coach Rally +
We attended the UK Coach Rally this weekend at a Alton Towers theme park, it was an altogether great weekend in which we met some amazing people.
The trip started early Friday morning when we loaded the two new coaches full of cleaning equipment and ladders ready for the trip north. Matt and Dave Mcglynn in the Irizar and Ian, Helen and Mark in the VDL. As soon as the coaches arrived at the venue out came the ladders and the cleaning equipment ready to bring them back to their pristine best in preparation for the show.
Saturday started early, we were back at the coaches around 7am preparing for the days tests. The first test was a timed road run for both coaches with the directions issued to us 20 minutes before our departure and with help of a map we started, Dave McGlynn was Matts navigator and Helen assisted Ian.
It took us 45 minutes to do the first 2 miles as the traffic trying to get into the theme park was so bad and the tight roads in 2 brand new coaches was a little hairy! But we successfully navigated our way around the course and back to the Alton Towers where Matt and Ian joined the queue for the driving test, the course had 5 sections, section 1- Narrow bridge, 2- Garage, 3- Tyre pad, 4-Parallel parking and 5-The wall. The name of the game was to score as little points as possible, points were added on for penalties such as hitting barriers, crossing lines and momentary stop whilst reversing. After a nerve-racking 10 minutes completing the course we were sent back to our parking spaces. The rest of the day was spent cleaning and polishing the coaches.
The Saturday evening we all got into our finest attire and attended the dinner and dance which was thoroughly enjoyed by all.
Sunday morning arrived and with a few sore heads (Matt and Ian) we got back to the coaches for the last bit of cleaning and to prepare for the vigorous judging process, by 2pm this was complete and we had time for a spot of lunch before the awards ceremony began.
The awards were presented by the Traffic Commissioner for the north, Kevin Rooney, as they proceeded down the long line of coaches announcing winners they got to us and over the tannoy we heard entrant 47 Galleon Travel has won two awards , best Irizar integral and best livery/décor, then moments later another announcement Entrant 49 Galleon Travel, best VDL synergy in show! This was an amazing outcome and we were all very proud.
The end of the awards saw the end of the show and all that was left to do was take the long drive south to Essex, bringing an end to what was a fantastic weekend.

Re-Brand and New Website +
We would like to welcome you to our new website, after many years of providing a first class service to our loyal customers we decided to bring our brand in line with our modern fleet. This include a completely new logo, a fresh and modern version of our trademark ship and a London theme to each of our vehicles to show how proud we are of our roots.
It all started in early 2014 when we were in the Basque region of Spain to spec our new state of the art Irizar coach. When we put our brand onto the new vehicle with its curvy lines and modern looks, we sat back and thought, in order for our livery to look good it needs the modern touch to it. So off we went and with the help of the Sowerby Group "Galleon" was born.
Everything that people loved about Galleon Travel moved to "Galleon" and from September 2014 our rebrand was nearly complete, the last piece of the puzzle was the website. Working closely with Global Film Makers we managed to produce a very professional video and after a lot of discussion we managed to develop our state of the art website.
Have a look around, enjoy and give us a call!
